TREES

Hi bloggers hope that you're well, I've seen how hot it is in Japan hope it gets a bit cooler for you all.  As you will have noticed from previous blogs I love trees, so I was delighted when I saw some articles about trees that were significant to people.

One feature was about an apple tree, the couple had been living in their house for forty years.  The apple tree was a constant source of joy and comfort to the family.  The tree had provided, a play space for their children and fruit for them to eat.  It's a miracle that despite, whatever is happening the apple tree is not only a thing of beauty, but also gives fruit that can be transformed into delicious food.

In a village in Western Africa, home of about 700 people a mango tree plays a central part in the people's lives.  The tree provides not only delicious fruit but also gives people somewhere to escape from intense sunlight and scorching heat.  The tree has very dense foliage providing an almost cave like space to rest and recover.  Incredible how one tree can be so important to people's survival.

This is a quote from Thich Naht Hanh,

“Look at the tree. [It] is a wonderful thing, a tree.  A tree is very beautiful.  A tree to me is as beautiful as a cathedral, even more beautiful.  I look[ed] into the tree and I saw the whole cosmos in it."

Thich Naht Hanh is a zen Buddhist teacher he has brought Buddhism to many people and he advocates peace and harmony and respect for all.
Have a good week bloggers over and out London.
